Year of Engineering 2018

The National Railway Museum is supporting the Year of Engineering—a government campaign which celebrates the world and wonder of engineering.

Throughout the year, we’ll be hosting a range of fantastic events and activities. We’re focusing on unusual fields, unexpected routes and the incredible stories of engineers from under-represented groups—all to show that engineering can be a career for anyone.

We’re aiming to encourage the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers to join exciting, rewarding and creative industries to help shape the future of the world we live in.

Keep checking this page to see what’s on offer, and discover what else you can do at the Year of Engineering website.

What's on for schools

Accept challenges, create your very own tour of the museum, and battle against your friends and family with our Lovie Award-winning app, Treasure Hunters (recommended for ages 5+). Taking part is as easy as taking a photo—plus we’ve given the app a special engineering-focused update to celebrate the Year of Engineering!

It’s free to download—get ready to explore, snap and score!
