Station Hall

Explore over 100 years of railway life in historic Station Hall, a former goods shed now home to our inspiring collection.

Built in the 1870s, Station Hall was once home to York’s main goods station and was a working railway building right up until the 1960s. Today you can soak up the atmosphere of this historic building as you explore vehicles spanning a century of railway history.

Uncover a fascinating array of station objects from our collection and see archive films showcasing station life.

Station Hall is also home to our luxurious Royal Carriages, a must-see for any visitor.

Browse our online collection for more objects in Station Hall. If you are visiting to see any of these objects, please contact us in advance to make sure that it will be on display.
