We have lined up four speakers for our next seminar.

Our PhD student Amanda Stevens has been looking at carriage design and her talk will focus on the research she has done on the LNER and GWR buffet car, in particular the democratisation of eating spaces on the train.

Following on from Amanda we have our Senior Curator of Rail Transport and Technology, Anthony Coulls, talking about the research behind our current Brass, Steel and Fire exhibition, From Experiment to Exhibition – 100 years of Locomotive Models.

We are grateful also to our guest speakers, Dr Peter Jones from SOAS, University of London, who will be looking at railways and the urban environment and PhD student Eleanor Hopkins from Exeter University, who is working on Mail Trains in the 19th Century.

The IRS Seminar is free and refreshments will be provided.
