Challenge yourself to build a sustainable future using LEGO. Take on our five eco-friendly challenges on your own or as a team, but be quick—you only have three minutes to build!

Join our Explainers for an interactive story about Max the Mouse and the search for an alternative way to power their city, discovering solar, wind and wave energy along the way. Our story sessions are approximately 20 minutes long and involve audience participation.

Powering the Railways

Join us for a discussion on decarbonisation, with each member of the panel arguing for their chosen power for the railways of the future in a bid to survive the public vote. This activity is the perfect chance for visitors to learn about the variety of sustainable fuels that could be used to power our railways, and the range of skills and careers to make this a reality.

Talk to our Explainers and members of York St John University's Computer Science department to explore different power sources that can be used for travel on the railways.

Wonder Wednesday

Future engineers can discover the important role of rail engineers and other crucial jobs in the industry, and learn about the innovative ideas and technologies shaping the future of railways. Representatives from Network Rail and industry partners will be available to talk about their jobs and visitors will be able to try a range of hands-on activities.

New Flying Scotsman exhibition

Head to North Shed to see our new exhibition Flying Scotsman: 100 Years, 100 Voices which explores stories from people whose lives have been touched by the locomotive.
