We have a new entrance

From Wednesday 1 March visitors will enter and exit our museum from Leeman Road, near the main visitor car park.

Our 'city entrance' has now closed and all visitors will be warmly welcomed through the new entrance.

We have clear signage and directions in place for when you get here.

The new entrance is located by the red pin on this map (Google Maps).

How to get there

If you're arriving on foot, continue along Leeman Road until you find the entrance on the side of Great Hall, opposite our main visitor car park
If you're arriving by car, the entrance is just over the road from the car park. Parking tokens are available at the desk as you enter Great Hall
Buses also stop outside the museum

FAQs

From Wednesday 1 March 2023, visitors will enter and exit the museum through the entrance into Great Hall on Leeman Road marked here.

The “City Entrance” that was previously in use as the main entrance/exit to the museum will permanently close from 27 February to allow for work associated with the construction of Central Hall, our new welcome building, due to open in 2025.

The temporary entrance change is necessary to keep the museum open to visitors while we make large-scale improvements to the museum. Find out more on our Vision 2025 webpages.
