The museum is only a few minutes’ walk from York station and the route is signposted:
- Turn left outside the front of the station
- Pass the Principal Hotel and turn left into Leeman Road
- Continue through the tunnel; the museum is straight ahead
There is also a direct route to the museum via the station footbridge, although this is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
The Rawcliffe Park and Ride bus picks up and drops off on Leeman Road. For more information, visit the First Group Park and Ride website.
First's Number 10 bus also passes by the museum. Visit the First website to plan your journey.

Please note we no longer offer coach parking.
Bicycle racks are available. Bikes are left at the owner’s risk.
The museum is a 10-minute walk from the centre of town, and the route is well signposted.
Accessible parking for blue badge holders is free, and is located in the main car park.
The museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city.
Our visitor car park is on Leeman Road—a short walk away from our main entrance on the other side of the road—and costs £10 per day.
Tokens for the visitor car park can be purchased in the museum. Please note this car park closes at 6.30pm.
We do not currently offer charging points for electric vehicles.
Please note our visitor car park has reduced in size due to construction works associated with the York Central project.
