The museum is only a few minutes’ walk from York station and the route is signposted:
- Turn left outside the front of the station
- Pass the Principal Hotel and turn left into Leeman Road
- Continue through the tunnel; the museum is straight ahead
There is also a direct route to the museum via the station footbridge, although this is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
The Rawcliffe Park and Ride bus picks up and drops off on Leeman Road. For more information, visit the First Group Park and Ride website.
First's Number 10 bus also passes by the museum. Visit the First website to plan your journey.
Our main entrance is a just a few minutes' walk away from the bus stop.
Please note we no longer offer coach parking.
Bicycle racks are available by the main entrance. Bikes are left at the owner’s risk.
The museum is a 10-minute walk from the centre of town, and the route is well signposted.
Conservation works are underway at the museum and there will be a reduced number of accessible parking bays available. Please speak to the car park attendant or a member of our meet and greet teams when you arrive and they will be happy to let you know our alternative arrangements.
Accessible parking for blue badge holders is free, and is located outside the main entrance.
The museum is clearly signposted from all approaches to the city.
Our visitor car park is on Leeman Road—a few minutes' walk away from our main entrance—and costs £10 per day.
Tokens for the visitor car park can be purchased at the main entrance. Please note this car park closes at 6.30pm.
We do not currently offer charging points for electric vehicles.
