Railway Futures careers day

Anyone can be an innovator and creative thinker—this online careers event will show your students how.

This virtual careers event features activities to inspire students with real-world career insights and role models to excite them about their career prospects and as STEM innovators of the future.

The event will enrich your existing careers education by bringing the world of work to life, develop students’ Engineering Habits of Mind, and support schools’ work towards the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Programme

For primary students

10.30–11.00

Students will have their questions answered by a panel of rail professionals, interviewed by primary students from a York school.

11.00–11.45

Students will learn all about rail professionals’ Engineering Superpowers and have the chance to take part in an engineering challenge.

For secondary and sixth form/college students

13.15–14.55

Students can explore the industry through a series of workshops, with professionals sharing stories about the exciting combination of innovation, engineering and technology in the railways. Students will discover how and why the future in rail is exciting and dynamic, and how to pursue a future in rail and STEM.

How to take part

The event will take place via Zoom Webinar and can be livestreamed into classrooms with interactive functionality.
