Railway Futures

Anyone can be an innovator and creative thinker—find out how at this two-day careers event.

The National Railway Museum and the Trans-Pennine STEM Ambassador Hub are teaming up with rail industry partners for Railway Futures, an exciting two-day careers event.

Railway Futures will showcase the exciting combination of innovation, engineering and technology in the railways, and look to the future of digital and sustainability to the sector. It will also feature the breadth of careers available in the rail industry, looking at the different sectors and routes into these.

Professionals from across the industry will be running interactive sessions, answering questions and sharing their stories.

For primary school groups (morning) and secondary school groups (afternoon)

The first day will be a hybrid event with a mixture of workshops, talks and Q&As. Join us for an exciting programme of activities, including opportunities to get involved from your classroom. The secondary school group sessions will be linked to Gatsby Benchmarks 4 (Careers in the Curriculum) and 5 (Encounters with Employers).

There will also be virtual and in-person resources available from the STEM Ambassador Hub and event partners to support the sessions. These can be used before and after the event.

For sixth form/college (morning) and university/HE (afternoon) groups

The second day of the event will be an in-person careers event hosted at the National Railway Museum. Visit a mixture of stands, activities, talks and careers clinics featuring employers, STEM professionals and event partners.
