Learning

Please note: The National Railway Museum reopens on Tuesday 4 August 2020, but in line with current government guidance, all group visits, including school visits are suspended until further notice. We will update this page as soon as we have an update on this situation.

If you would like to contact us about an existing booking, please email school.bookings@railwaymuseum.org.uk.

In the meantime we have range of home learning resources, including educational games, videos and activities, which we hope can support you in working with your students remotely should you need it.

While our doors will be closed for a while, our incredible collection—and the inspirational stories it contains—remains open to you and your students online.

Given the uncertainty we are all facing together, it is not possible to say when our museums will be able to reopen to visitors, but we look forward to welcoming you back as soon as we can.

Explore our schools programme, which offers strong curriculum links and a focus on science and engineering. Join us for science shows, workshops and storytelling suitable for Key Stages 1–3.

From the inception of the railways to designing the future, our activities explore engineering in our everyday lives. In the unique setting of the National Railway Museum, our programmes complement your lessons and stretch your students’ imaginations.

Whether for a small class or a whole school, contact us today to organise your visit.
